Birthdays that end in zero

I turn thirty tomorrow, and it makes me feel weird.

I feel strangely uncomfortable about turning thirty. For reasons I probably don't need to articulate. Last year, I wrote this post, and I think it still sums up how I feel about the whole birthday thing.

Although of course I do keep on thinking 'wouldn't it be amazing if we got a referral on my birthday!'

I need to remind myself: This is not going to happen.

(Although even as I type this, I think 'wow, wouldn't it be great if it DID happen!)

Not going to happen.

(Last year I got a cat for my birthday. Wouldn't it just be the coolest if, this year, I got a baby?)

NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

(I'm thinking of some cutesy way to announce it, even now).

NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

(
I could wake up in the morning, check my email and bam! There it is! The photo I've been waiting for. My baby).

YOU WILL NOT BE GETTING A BABY FOR YOUR THIRTIETH BIRTHDAY, AND YOU NEED TO ACCEPT THAT NOW.

(Oh, okay then).

(Maybe tomorrow evening??)

NO.

(I need to get some new voices in my head. You are no fun AT ALL).

  2. I'm turning 31 this year. It's hard when life doesn't work out the you planned. Hang in there. You're one day closer to your child.

  3. Aside from the fact that you don't have your sweet babe home yet...

    30 is Absolutely Fabulous!

It really..as someone who has had 8 years experience being in their "30's" I can tell you it is true.

I am far more sure of myself now than I ever was in my 20's!

Welcome to 30..you like it here..it's nice :)

    Happy Birthday

P.S. This will be your LAST birthday without a wee one!!!!

  4. Happy Birthday! The voice in your head, should you get a new one, needs to tell you that you look fabulous, have a good day, and it will give you wishes of peace as you wait. That day will be better than any birthday, ever, anyway.

P.S. Love the new look of the blog, you do look fabulous.

  7. Happy Happy Birthday!
    You're just a young one at 30 :)

I wish you would get that birthday wish...but I know it's just around the corner.

  8. If you would like, we could officially delay your birthday until you get your referral, and then call that your birthday. Or, we can just figure that the referral (which is coming, it is, IT IS, IT IS!!!) will just be a little delayed and call it a late birthday present (like mine is going to be). At any rate, your thirties are here, your baby is on its way, and regardless of which exact day it begins, it's going to be the most amazing year of your life! Love you so much -- happy birthday, my dearest.

  11. Awww, in typical fashion anymore I'm late writing this comment, but I hope your birthday was okay at the least. Of course my biggest hope is that you hear soon of your referral if it wasn't on that day. And the biggest hope is you DID hear.

Because I should stop blogging because I can no longer think of anything clever to write anywhere much less in any comment and it's not because I don't have awesome things I could actually post about it's just because I suck in totally lazy ways (wow, have I just turned this comment into one about me and not about you, oh dear), I certainly should not be applying for or suggesting who/what should be the voice in your head.... I'll leave that to others, but I do incidentally think the age of 30 is awesome and I am well passed it.

  13. Happy belated, my dear. Welcome to the thirties! I celebrate the 7th anniversary of my 29th this year. LOL. I'd like to say my thirties have been great, but the majority of them have dealt with IF so take my opinion for what little it is worth. (-;

I am certain your 31st will be your best b-day yet...with a baby in your arms.
