Compassion Fatigue

Honestly, I have compassion fatigue just looking at myself in the mirror these days. I'm so bored of being so whiny. I promised myself that I wouldn't post any more doom or gloom here.

But my cat has gone missing.

My beloved, furry, purry, sweet, handsome, hilarious cat that Jay got for me on the same day we applied to adopt. He is my first baby.

I have no idea where he is.

He never, ever, ever ever wanders. He's a homebody, an inside cat, a hungry hungry boy who has never ever missed a meal in the four years we have had him. Now he's missed three. He's been gone more than a day.

If you are a pray-er, please pray for his safe return. If you're a pet owner, you'll understand why.

  1. How utterly horrible. I hope he returns!

One of my parents' (very timid, very shy, hardly ever seen) cats escaped in spring, and was gone for more than a week before the live trap they'd placed outside bore fruits. I guess Kyrra is now a reformed animal, and much more appreciates the home life! I hope you have a similar happy ending.

  2. I am a prayer. I will pray. We lost our kitty, my first baby this year (she got outside and unpseakable sh!& went down with the neighbors pit bull. It was horrible. So sorry. (And I know all about compassion fatigue.)

  4. I'm so sorry! Our kitty went missing 2 weeks ago, and given the hard life of a farm cat, we've sadly said goodbye. But I had a city cat that went missing for 3 weeks in freezing conditions. I posted signs everywhere, and one day my next door neighbor called to say she saw my signs and was hearing weird noises under her house. She went into her dining room, removed the grate from the heating register, and plucked my cat up through her floor. Singed whiskers, a few pounds lighter, but very grateful. He had crawled there to get warm or escape a predator and got stuck. Praying for a happy return!

  6. I'm so sorry! I am a cat lover and a pray-er. Our kitty went missing in the spring for 2 days. We had nearly given up hope, but then on the 3rd morning, he walked up to the door. I hope your baby comes home soon!

  9. What a gorgeous kitty. As someone who understands the healing power of a good purr during tough times, I am hoping you see him again very soon.

  10. Oh bloody hell! I have been thinking about your pink bag. As a prayer and practically a teetotaler - put something insanely alcoholic in your pink bag and some way sexy bras to either celebrate the girls sticking around or to send them off with a fond farewell before you upgrade. Some novelty slippers (beware of trying to walk in them after drinking lots) and a new robe. I hope your cat shows up looking suitably apologetic, Blue's asthma spontaneously cures itself, your results come back negative, and your kids develop a love affair with the potty and through it all you develop this insanely rock hard faith that could give Job a run for his money.
