Look Up

See where it says 'Adoption 101?' I've finally, finally, finally finished the list of links I've been working on. And it's finally up.

No pun intended.

I hope some of you find it useful- there's a lot of cool stuff there. And while I was finishing it off earlier, I looked around to see this:

A major yoghurt extravaganza. (And yes, he is wearing a torch. Isn't your kid?) So, um, yeah. If you especially like it, please volunteer to come over here and clean some of the food off my kids!

[yes - this post used to have some other pictures but people were finding this blog by googling weird stuff and I think this post was the culprit, so.... yeah. I deleted them.  Buh-bye, crazy googlers!]

  2. You are a social worker's dream! They can now just give every fresh faced client this list! Honored to be included. Off to read more until interrupted by toddler whining....

  3. It's so easy to conjure the hard, complex, deep thoughts-- and yet here on the internets- it's hard to conjure the "getting happy" areas. Oh please tell me it isn't 'typical'. Please tell me it's out there so I can focus on that for a bit!

  4. I going to be reading for days! Thank you so much for compiling such a great list. I am tickled to be included.
I am actually looking forward to finding some happy posts to submit. It will be a good reminder that a lot of this is good. Really good.

  5. [stands up and claps]

  6. You are a goddess! One of my biggest deterrents to exploring the possibility of adoption more seriously is simply feeling overwhelmed by where to start with research (and simply visiting a couple agencies didn't really illuminate much, oddly).

I think there's some really great reading for me as an adoptee, too. Been considering (very lazily) an eventual birth-family search, or just getting more 'in the know' about the community of adoptees/adoptee issues out in the world that I can learn from.

Anyway, thank you! I love the light-on-the-head photo, by the way. My son has just discovered flashlights and if I dim the lights and let him go to town with one, he can easily occupy a good half hour or so.

  7. Love it, mostly because it took me all arrows for me to actually do what you asked of me. ;)

  8. I just checked it out. And might I say "daaaaaaang" (in the words of my 6-yr-old) that's a darn good list. No wonder it took you so long!

  10. p.s I have estimated it to take approximately one week of ignoring my kids to read all of this. Would you judge this to be correct?

  11. Ok the list is great, but what I loved about this post most, aside from the neurosis you encited when I couldn't determine what I was missing, is the fact that blue is wearing a pink bib, pink a blue one, and that pink is emptying blue's bowl into her own. Love love love that!!

  16. Magnum opus! Honored to be included.

Please begin conducting Fascinating Life webinars.

You linked Irene's Daughters Derailment "I Have Black Friends," which is one of my favorites of all times.

Can't wait to begin methodically reading and re-reading what you've compiled.

  17. Amasayganalo - but most importantly PLEASE add a link to your own post about Privacy. Such a critical post for big mouths like me. Should be read by every SW as well as every PAP and AP.

  20. Wow - what a gift, thank you!
Now all I need is a comfy chair, a blanket and a hot cup of tea (oh, and a week uninterrupted!)
Have read a bunch of these (I really should go and thank these writers) & am excited to read the rest.
PS I looked up at the ceiling when you said "Up" & wondered what on earth you were going to say :) Some of us are more visually spatially challenged than others.
