This Is For Everyone Who Told Me

to test the Benadryl.

THANK YOU.

From the bottom of my heart.  The only good thing about this afternoon is that it's not happening on a plane.

  1. Uh, oh. Sorry it's not working - having a child like that, you have my sincerest empathy!

  2. The fact that you posted this at 1am tells me it did not go well. Hope they crash out (or have already) very very soon.

  4. GAH!! So glad you tested it! I have a son who is wired for days if he takes Benadryl. Due to a neurological problem, we have had to give him melatonin to sleep (and will continue indefinitely). It has been wonderful, but it really only works if you use it at nighttime when it's dark. So I don't know if it's appropriate for planes. Good luck to you!

  5. Jamey is right. Benadryl totally didn't work on my kiddo either. Melatonin is your friend.

  6. So glad you found this out at home. I will tell my BIL and SIL that their Benadryl-plane experience at least helped someone. It's been a few years, but I think they can laugh about it now. I think.

    Good luck!!!

  7. BAAAHAAA!! I laugh only cause it's not me. THe last time I called the docs office about swollen face and eyes cause he had so many bug bites they suggested benedryl..."umm.... he can breathe fine, so is it really necessary? Like- will he die without it?" I asked. 'No. should be better tomorrow-- " than why the heck would I do that to myself?!?!!? ARE YOU NUTS

  8. We used Children's Gravol when we flew home from Ethiopia with Ade...he slept 7 of the 14 hours we were flying from Dubai to Toronto.

Also, we fed him....a lot! It meant lots of trips to the bathroom but he was quiet.

And don't let them play under the seats...we found that out when Ade got his head stuck under the little bar that runs under the seats.

    Yup, here's how it went:

Flight Attendant - can I help you.

Me - OUR SON'S HEAD IS STUCK UNDER THE SEAT!!!!

Flight Attendant -Oh My God I'll do what I can.

Me - HIS HEAD IS STUCK UNDER THE SEAT!!!

    Yvan - "hee hee hee"

Me - Oh he's free - as you were!

    So embarrassed!

  12. Oh thank God you tested. I have a kid who is amped up by it, too. Yikes.

I've had luck with Dramamine, and it keeps them from puking during turblulance (BONUS!)
