Well, nothing has moved and we are STILL waiting for our Certificate of Eligibility from the gub'ment. So I've decided to swing into action anyway and do what I can, which basically means getting my shots. I turned up to the doctors' surgery on Monday with £300, rolled up my sleeve and pretty much said 'give me one of everything'. As it turned out, the nurse would only give me two shots at a time, so I've had my measles-mumps-rubella booster and yellow fever vaccination, but I've had to book four (count 'em, FOUR) more appointments for my remaining 8 jabs. And the £300 wasn't quite enough, either, which is kind of scary.
.
I would also like to take the opportunity to apologise sincerely to the person who was offended by part of my last post and told me so privately. I'm very sorry.
In other news. I've been making lots more jewellery. And we've been doing some thinking. And have some decisions to make. What do y'all think about .... twins? Brilliant way of making sure our baby never feels isolated and without birthfamily connections, or sheer greed? Twice the fun, or a shortcut to sleep-deprived mania? We expect it would take a bit longer, but would set a limit on how long we would wait, if we decided to go ahead with this idea. Honest opinions sought.

Ouch, ouch, ouch!! One for each shot and another for the price! How long do you have to wait in between (weekly? monthly?) to get the rest?
ReplyDeleteCrap, I still need to send you some beads!! Note to self: Look for bead store. (-;
Twins sound amazing for so many reasons. My main concerns would be the wait time and the double everything.... If it is truly in your heart, then I say go for it!
Ouch. What can I say? You should have a chat to JoJo - she screamed so loudly last week when she got her 4 yo needles that I couldn't hear a word the Dr said (for about 10 mins) - I'm sure she'd think you were very brave :)
ReplyDeleteTwins... it's wierd, I've been thinking about you getting twins for the last couple of days. Don't ask me why, I have no idea! Double the fun - probably, double the sleep deprived depression - definitely, less stress re: urgent need to apply to adopt again to provide a sibling - yep. I dunno... I don't think there's a right or a wrong. I think the beginning would be a bit of a nightmare, but probably worth it! Twins would make particularly cute photos :) Does that help? Lol.
We adopted two at once, not twins, but three days apart. One of the best decisions we ever made and I wouldn't change any of it. It was overwhelming at first. But luckily everyone adjusted rather quickly and got into schedules. The rough part came when number three was added a few short months later.
